Dr Pat has been part of the coaching profession and its evolution since the beginning and has just released the 3rd edition of his best selling book Becoming a Professional Life Coach: The Art and Science of a Whole Person Approach. Even though many leadership and executive coaches and other specializations would not call themselves “life coaches” — it is absolutely what they do! It’s all life coaching if we are coaching the person and not just the problem. In this updated edition, he has added new neuroscience research on coaching and emotions, and looks at both the blend of coaching the what–related to the workplace, business, or personal health and relationships–and the who of the client: the beingness added to the doingness. Coaching mastery today requires a whole person approach which encourages transactional and transformational coaching.

He’s the past president of ACTO, the Association of Coach Training Organizations, and an honorary VP of the International Society of Coaching Psychology. Dr. Pat was introduced into the inaugural class of the Circle of Distinction, a global award from the International Coach Federation. He’s written multiple articles and has co-authored seven books. His latest book Getting Naked: Emotional Transparency with the Right Person at the Right Time in the Right Place is what we will discuss today.

It’s time to get naked. You have a very short time on earth, and the question then becomes what will we do with the time we are given? Intimacy and transparency are fundamental to your ability to show up bravely, with humility, and ultimately transform your experience of life.

Dr. Patrick Williams shares stories and continually asks, “What steps will you take to step forward in your life?” via his book Getting Naked: On Being Emotionally Transparent at the Right Time, the Right Place, and with the Right Person.

The idea that love is infinite and you’re capable of accessing love as soon as you choose isn’t new, yet there is a freshness to this telling. I was left with curiosity about ways that I’m still muddling through letting go with love in my own life. And, pondering the manner in which love has the ability to open my world. If, I am brave enough to get naked, first and foremost with myself, and also with those individuals who have earned the right to hear my story.

Self-awareness and a desire to live a life one can be proud of requires us to dive into the pool of ourselves, skinny dip, and find what we most admire about who we are and who we are becoming.

We are all familiar with movies which depict someone being blackmailed for an act they committed. We often don’t realize that we do the same thing to ourself and hold so many secrets inside of us. The self-talk we create about any situation determines what we keep to ourselves based off of shame and guilt. When you self-blackmail you withhold peace, joy and happiness. Learning to let things go allows you to live your life to its fullest.
